Not sure if it’s a joke or not but Tuesday marked a month already since we arrived to Beijing. Unbelievable. But at the same time, it feels like we’ve never been anywhere else. It’s a strange combination to be honest. I should all be new and confusing still but to be honest, who has the time for that?
A month. Really? Sure I’m not delusional? Can hardly tell anymore.
It’s a constant flow of happenings. Of tasks to solve, information to find, applications to fill in and questions to answer. It’s a never ending flow of information and meetings, visits and travel plans. And it’s absolutely, insanely & and utterly fab.
It helps that we’ve been able to move in to our more permanent home. I don’t even care about the fact that it’s sparsely furnished at the moment. For that we have IKEA (or the Mothership as we lovingly call her). It provides my daughter with the possibility to play with her friends and neighbours during the evening, and I don’t have to feel so guilty for staying another 30 mins at work as it takes me a minute to get home. 😉
A month in China already.
And I’m already exiting. Regional meeting in Bangkok next week. Didn’t think I’d make it but what do you know. It all worked out. So off I go. Happy? Not really considering I strongly dislike flying. When back on the mainland, it’s time for what the Chinese call “The Golden Week”. National day celebration coming up. After that it will be one more week before I head “home” to Stockholm to further educate myself. Because remember people, you can never know too much.
So busy times both inside and outside the office at the moment. And it’s on evenings like these, when the air quality isn’t quite as good as it has been, that you look at pictures like these and think: complaining would be utterly insane.
Love from Beijing ❤️
