Today China commemorates the death of the poet and minister Qu Yuan, a cadet who served in high offices but was forced to live in exile most of his life during which he wrote a lot of poetry. It is said that the committed suicide by drowning himself in a river and that the local people, who admired him, raced out in their boats to save him, or at least retrieve his body. This is said to have been the origin of today’s Dragon Boat Festival.
Well people, we got ahead of things and participated in our own Dragon Boat race last weekend already.
Unfortunately we didn’t win though so our saving skills could be questionable.. (should be noted here that I was the cheerleader, not a rower)It’s clear we’re gonna have to prep more for next year.. Maybe I should invest in some blue and yellow pom-poms? 🙄
Apart from rowing today marked the start of Football Season, well at least if you’re Swedish. 🇸🇪 So off we went to Joe’s.
First game against Korea and we were in for a ride for sure. With Germany’s loss against Mexico yesterday it was clear that we needed to win more than ever. So we were doing the best we could..
Love from Beijing❤️
